Dinner with author James Dodson Kicks Off Closer to Home Golf Classic
March 20, 2017
Lower Cape Fear Hospice’s 2017 Closer to Home Golf Tournament will kick-off with a dinner event with North Carolina award-winning author James Dodson. The dinner will be Friday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m. at The Upper Room, 412 Ann St. in Wilmington. Tickets are $100 and available at www.lcfhfoundation/events.
The Closer to Home Golf Classic will be Saturday, May 12 at Cape Fear National Golf Course at Brunswick Forest in Leland. Registration starts at 8:00 a.m.
Dodson is the author of several New York Times bestsellers and has earned a long list of accolades for his incredible stories that draw on his love for the game of golf. He is also Editor of PineStraw Magazine in Southern Pines; Founding Editor of O. Henry Magazine in Greensboro, and Founding Editor of Salt Magazine in Wilmington.
In his recent novel Final Rounds, Dodson offers a touching, heartfelt, often humorous tribute to his father and how they set out to celebrate his last days with a golf tour of a lifetime. When his father learned he had two months to live, it seemed only appropriate for them to set off on the golf journey of their dreams to play the most famous courses in the world. Dodson’s experience through hospice with his father showed him the compassionate and dignified care at the heart of hospice.
Dodson will have a new book out this spring, The Range Bucket List. He will share the background for his latest release and include a book signing at the end of the night.
Tickets and/or sponsorship of this incredible event ensures all patients and their families, regardless of their ability to pay, will receive the most comprehensive and highest level of quality end-of life care in the region.
All are also invited to the 2017 Closer to Home Golf Classic. The day includes; beat-the-pro, putting contest, hole-in-one challenge, auction and amazing play on this beautiful course, which Golfweek Magazine recently named one of the “11 Best Courses You Can Play in NC.” Individual registration is $150; team registration is $600.
Tickets and sponsorship opportunities for both events are available at www.lcfhfoundation.org/events or call 910-796-8099 ext. 6.
