Volunteer Program Manager – New Hanover County (Wilmington, NC)

1.0 FTE

Works under the supervision of the Director of Counseling and Volunteer Services to ensure the day-to-day operations of LCFH’s volunteer department meets all regulatory requirements.   In addition, this position oversees volunteer coordinators to meet agency-defined goals.  This position is also responsible in developing other volunteer opportunities outside the core services to enhance the patient and family experience.  Must have capability to interact with wide range of diverse populations to include patients, their family members, community leaders, volunteers, donors and staff.  Performs responsible administrative duties of a general and confidential nature for volunteer programs, marketing and communications, and fund development. Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, human services, or a related field required. Valid driver license required. Three years of management experience preferred, not required. Two years of experience in a community relations and/or human services field preferred, not required.

Director of Marketing & Communications – New Hanover County (Wilmington, NC)

1.0 FTE

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Director of Marketing and Communications serves as a key member of the Leadership Team, and is responsible for developing and executing clearly defined marketing and communications strategies that increase the visibility and presence of Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation and Lower Cape Fear Hospice Mercy Care. The Director will build on current marketing programs/campaigns and create new ways of engaging staff, community, providers, donors, patients and their families, while ensuring a consistent brand message and positioning aligned with the agency’s direction. The Director will oversee all digital, editorial, design, public relations and marketing for all aspects of the organization. Responsible for budget, workflow and staff; direct an in-house marketing and communication team as well as oversee all content development, editing, production and implementation of all collateral and support materials. Responsible for the effective analysis and management of Lower Cape Fear Hospice’s reputation, strategic public and media relations, and relationship building with key stakeholders and media monitoring. The Director will serve as a spokesperson, manage crisis communications, provide strategic proactive media relations and extend brand awareness and perception. Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field required and 10+ years of experience in marketing and communications roles. Master’s degree preferred. Ten years of experience in marketing, public relations, fund development, and/or related field required, health care setting preferred.  Experience in working with a Board of Directors and volunteers preferred.  Three years’ experience in supervisory practice, program management required, health care setting preferred.

RN (Night Shift)  – Care Center – New Hanover County (Wilmington, NC)

The Professional Registered Nurse provides direct patient care for patients in life limiting illnesses. The patient population can include newborns through geriatric patients. Is responsible for using the Nursing Process to effectively manage the Plan of Care for each patient based on appropriate nursing standards, policies and procedures. Management of each patient also includes appropriately and effectively delegating patient care duties to other members of the team in order to assure optimal patient outcomes. The Professional Registered Nurse is also responsible for continuing his/her own personal development to enhance practice and the profession of Nursing. Performs other duties as assigned. Graduate of an approved school of nursing, either through an AD, Diploma or BSN program. Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of North Carolina. Two years’ experience. Prefer at least one year Home Care or Hospice or related oncology experience.

RN Clinical Liaison  – New Hanover County (Wilmington, NC)

1.0 FTE

Works under the supervision of the Director of the Resource Center to coordinate admissions and discharges within the hospitals, long term care facilities and assisted living facilities. Coordinates the in-patient care for Palliative and Hospice patients. Develops well-informed, responsive relationships with physicians and their staff as well as other health care providers in the hospital, long term care facility and assisted living settings through communication and education to increase census and length of stay.  Acts as a resource to physicians, patient/families, and other facility staff regarding end-of-life issues and palliative care. Acts as a referral source/consultant to assess patients for appropriateness of admission and begins process. Supports the development and execution of LCFH& LCC’s marketing communications goals and plan. The Professional Registered Nurse is also responsible for continuing his/her own personal development to enhance practice and the profession of Nursing. Works with Palliative Care Nurse Practitioners and Physicians in the hospital setting. Performs other duties as assigned. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, either through an AD, Diploma or BSN program.  Degree in business, marketing or related field preferred. Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of North Carolina. Two years’ experience. Prefer hospice or home care.  Prefer experience in marketing, public affairs, community relations or hospital liaison nurse.

Insurance Claim Representative – New Hanover County (Wilmington, NC)

The Insurance Claims Representative is responsible and accountable for the preparation, submission, and verification of patient claims. This position is responsible for monitoring and following up on delinquent patient accounts, for auditing patient files for accuracy, and for ensuring that accounts receivable and accounts payable information corresponds with claims filed. The Insurance Claims Representative maintains contact with internal and external personnel to ensure accuracy and timeliness of patient accounts, and performs other duties as assigned. High School Diploma or GED required. Prefer Associate’s Degree or equivalent. Minimum of one year related experience required. Prefer two years of related experience.

Hospice Aide (Night Shift)  – New Hanover County (Wilmington, NC)

.94 FTE

The Hospice Aide works under the supervision of the Professional Registered Nurse to provide a variety of basic patient care activities to meet personal needs and comfort to patients. Care is based on Hospice Aide’s level of registration and agency policies and procedures. The patient population can include newborns through geriatric patients. The Hospice Aide assists in clerical and stocking duties for the department or agency. Performs other duties as assigned. High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of Hospice Aide course. Must attend 12 hours of in-service training supervised by a Registered Nurse on a rolling 12 month basis. Has not had a lapse of 24 consecutive months where the aide has not provided services for compensation. Current certification with State Board of Nursing, or current registration with Department of Facilities Service in the State of North Carolina. Minimum of two years’ experience and at least one year in home care or by other individuals under general supervision of a Registered Nurse. Previous HA experience in a hospice, home health, or oncology preferred.

Chaplain – Bladen County (Whiteville, NC)

.15 FTE

The Hospice Chaplain provides spiritual care services directly to terminally ill patients and their families in a clinical setting, and indirectly by way of linkage with local clergy and religious communities. As a member of the IDT, the Chaplain provides consultation with team members about spiritual care issues, and coordinates chaplain services with the team. The Chaplain is also available to provide community education and consultation, regarding spiritual care and end of life issues and concerns, when requested. The Chaplain is responsible for his/her ongoing continuing education, to assure that skills and knowledge are enhanced.Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in theology or divinity, and at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education or its equivalent. Master’s degree preferred. Counseling education is desirable. Professional license/certification preferred, but not required upon employment. At least 2 years of experience in pastoral care, counseling, or the ministry,preferably in a health care setting.

Hospice/Palliative Care Physician – Columbus/Bladen counties (Whiteville/Elizabethtown, NC)

1.0 FTE

The Hospice/Palliative Care Physician is responsible for the medical component of the hospice and palliative care program. Acts in the capacity of hospice medical director overseeing the medical components of care to hospice patients in all settings and acting as attending physician for patients in acute care hospice facilities. Performs consultative services to patients and families with life limiting illnesses; helps to determine and implement policy concerning the medical component of the hospice and palliative care program and services; supervises direct medical care of midlevel providers. Acts as a resource to the medical community and community at large with regard to end-of-life issues and provides education regarding pain and symptom management. Graduate of an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy with a degree in medicine or osteopathy. Current North Carolina/ South Carolina practicing physician licensure, valid driver license; credentialed member of hospital staff. Has completed an accredited residency program and has at least five years of experience in end-of-life care. Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine preferred.
